Picture 7 (7)

Picture 7 shows a picture of a spinning room in Cornell Mill.

Picture 8 (8)

Picture 8 shows a scene at Bibb Mill No. 1. These children were so small that they had to climb upon the spinning frame to mend broken threads. Conditions such as these, in which the children wear no shoes, show the hazardous conditions of factories in the Gilded Age.
